1. It’s painful

I have a pretty low tolerance to pain, but had the treatments with no issue. The technician treating me used a cooling gel where I was going to have the laser – my underarms and upper lip. It was applied about 5 minutes before the treatment. It really felt more like the snapping of a rubber band on my skin. There were a few little stinging sensations, but definitely not a highly unpleasant experience. And this is coming from the girl who runs from the doctor when she has to get her blood drawn!

2. You can predict when you’ll be hair free foreever

Cycles of hair growth play a major role in your hair removal treatment regimen. Excessive hair growth can be caused by a variety of things, heredity, stress, medication, and hormonal changes. For women puberty, pregnancy and menopause play important parts in determining hair growth.

Many researchers say that there can be as many as 2500 hair follicles per square inch but less than 100 hairs will be showing at any given time. For these reasons, during treatment, it is extremely difficult for anyone to predict, not even your doctor, the exact length of time before there is no more growth in the treatment area.

There are 3 stages of hair growth – Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. The “perfect” time for hair to be permanently destroyed is when it is in the Anagen or growing stage. It can take 6 to 12 weeks for a hair to grow to the surface of the skin. These cycles can vary somewhat from individual to individual, and in addition the individual patterns are different too.

3. Only dermatologist or nurse can perform the treatments

In Victoria, NSW and South Australia there are no licensing, regulatory or certification requirements to perform any Laser or IPL treatments.

Queensland has Radiation Safety Act 1999 regulating licensing of operator and premises to operate laser for cosmetic treatments.

Tasmania has Tasmanian Radiation Protection Act 2005 regulating accreditation of equipment, premises and operator for laser procedures

WA imposes conditions, limitations and restrictions on the use of Class 4 laser through Western Australia Radiation Safety Act 1975

However we stress that unskilled technicians performing laser hair removal can result in the horror stories you may have heard from others.

So training is a prerequisites in our view to operate all hair removal devices.

In some areas, the economy has made it tough to keep or seek out jobs. But if you’re a single mother with children to provide for, having a job can be one of the most important parts of your life. With school, sports, and other events they may have going on, you want to find something that can be flexible yet something you’re still passionate about.

That’s why so many single mothers think the cosmetic industry is the best career change they’d made.

“Times are hard right now,” Irene from Adelaide commented. “But laser training allowed me to enter a field I really liked. I get to work with great clients and perform treatments like laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments.”

One reason why many single mothers prefer this industry is because training doesn’t take long. Many were able to jump right into working in a spa or salon environment or establish a practice themself performing a variety of laser treatments.

You can become certified laser trained in two weeks or less. You can also choose from a variety of other courses to enrich your experiences and skill sets.

Our IPL and laser courses are designed and prepared to help students learn everything from how a laser is fired to different types of laser treatments. Students will learn both in the classroom and in hands-on learning environment. Students will also gain a chance to practice on clients that have been scheduled for them in order to feel more confident with the different types of lasers.

Many single mothers have enjoyed their career change into the cosmetic laser field for many reasons, such as:

• Build lasting relationships with friendly clients
• It’s a job that isn’t stressful or demanding
• Flexible hours so that they can still spend time with their kids
• Make good money in this in-demand industry!

You don’t have to devote all your time and energy to a job you’re not passionate about anymore. That’s why so many women are enjoying the cosmetic laser and healthy and beauty industry.
